FAQs

Why does this Calibration Pack not have Dolby Vision settings?

Due to the way Sony implements Dolby Vision (Profile 5), these settings will NOT include settings for Dolby Vision. Meaning, the external device needs to decode the Dolby Vision signal before it's sent to the TV. In this case, that would be the pattern generator. I use the VideoForge Pro Pattern Generator which does support Dolby Vision, just not in the way Sony TVs need. This is a Sony specific situation.

What equipment do you use to calibrate your TVs?

I use the Portrait Displays C6 Colorimeter and VideoFort Pro Pattern Generator - https://store.portrait.com/pattern-generators/portrait-displays-c6-hdr2000-videoforge-pro.html

Do I need calibration equipment to use these settings?

No, you do not! We are going to use the best out of the box picture modes and adjust settings on top of them. Calibration tools will unlock more options, but as you would need the tools, at your home, that just will not work.

I live in a different part of the world, would these settings work on my A8H?

Yes! The TVs are going to have the same panel/processing/features no matter where in the world they are sold. There will be panel differences and variations and these settings will get you pretty close to my calibrated A8H, but it won't be "perfect" due to these inherent variations.
