What’s up everybody Channa D here and today I’m going to be doing a review of the 4k Ultra High Definition version of Planet Earth II and we’re going to get into it right after the jump.
And I am back now if you saw my other 4k Ultra High Definition Blu-ray review of Assassin’s Creed, it kind of fell flat and I think a lot of that had to do with the big dust cloud effect thing that they had going on now as far as planet Earth 2 is concerned, this thing is reference quality if you want to show off your 4K TV you need to buy this. It’s a little pricey but this is worth it and if you don’t even like nature shows this thing is going to make you LOVE nature shows! So you get three discs and there are six episodes altogether you’ve got islands, mountains, jungles, deserts, grasslands and cities. Now all six of these episodes occur on the first two discs now the third disc is a behind the scenes they call it the Planet Earth II Diaries. They take you through a few different episodes and all the challenges that they had filming this kind of content. Now this is some cool stuff because you actually get to see that they are using the Red Code camera, which shoots at 6k, and they also use 4k cameras 6k cameras and 3.4 K cameras to make this amazing documentary. Let me tell you, I was blown away! Colors were popping and they’re super close to these animals like really-really close and you kind of wonder how this happens. How they get these shots and the behind the scenes are really cool to watch. I think it’s about an hour long and it’s just amazing to see all the technology they’ve used. Not just the type of cameras but the type of shooting that they had to use and all the crazy camera rigs they had to get this kind of footage.
I was a fan of the first Planet Earth and it was awesome looking in the regular 1080p Blu-Ray and this 4K sequel is just phenomenal. So do yourself a favor save up for this if you need to, I will put a link in the description for you to pick this up but I don’t want to get into too much. All I got to say is, it’s insanely awesome and the scenes are cool, there’s a whole lot of fight or flight situations going on in this and you got to see it you’re going to love it. I would say about 90% of scenes are like eye popping. I get it’s long, I know six episodes but this is totally worth the pickup, worth every penny, this is going to show off your 4k Ultra High Definition TV with HDR like no other! The best part, it’s like all animals in nature. So no special effects just straight up the camera and awesome scenery and crazy animal fights. Definitely pick this up! Here is a little side note I did just order the Sony 4k Ultra High Definition Blu-ray player, so I can unbox it, test it out and review it for you guys at home. If you’re trying to find a good option in 4k Ultra High Definition Blu-Ray players and you don’t want an Xbox One S and you can’t afford the Oppo UDP-203, check out my review of the Sony UBP-X800. I’m checking out the Sony and don’t forget to follow my Twitter account because I’m sure I’m going to put that Sony up for sale once I’m done with it and you can grab it at a great price why not. So that’s all my time for today, once again my name is Channa D and I’ll see you next time.
