Ladies and gentlemen, it’s your boy! Brass Tax is bitch, you already know, you already know. I know it’s coming to the end of the year, so many of you guys went for the top ten. It’s coming, it’ll be here before the end of the year for sure. What kind of person, what kind of reviewer would I be if I give you a top ten without reviewing American Made? That shit just came out, that could have been a reference. Last year I did top ten, missed out on Sully in this bitch felt lik a fucking idiot, I ain’t lie to you.
Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise but Tom Cruise did this so well. He did this so well! The only movie he didn’t play himself. He’s the one in Tropic Thunder. I’ll can’t remember the name of that character, but that character needs his own movie. I’ll buy that in 4K and 3D, I ain’t gonna lie to you. This is based on a true story of T.W.A. pilot who was recruit by the CIA to run reconnaissance on a rising communist threat in Central America. Mofo reluctantly ends up because a drug smuggler. I don’t know if it was a good thing or bad thing? Bullshit ensues. Good movie. Tom Cruise, very likeable in this movie. It’s a lot of fun. It gave me that kind of Blow vibe. Remember the movie Blow? That was not a good. I love to see that on 4k. But yea, that kind of vibe, 70’s era, love it, it’s all about that period right there. Sex, drugs, rock & roll, what can you say?
Shot in 2.8k, Visual Effects 2k, Digital Intermediate 2k, DTS:X Master Audio. We got the full screen on this one people. One of the few movies in 2017 which is taken up every inch of your real estate. Every inch. You go the full screen, amazing. Transfer has a little grain but it’s not too offensive, you aren’t going to be offended. It’s all good. I’m not offended, I hate grain, you are not going to be offended. It’s all good. Detail is an appreciable upgrade from the 1080p, reveals extra details in close up pores, textures. Location specifically the airports, the mansion and the prison, really it is going to blow you away. There is a liberal dose of depth, sprinkled throughout this transfer, especially in aerial shots and establishing shots and there is layers between characters. Nice 3-Dimensional pop for sure. I have seen better black levels in other 4K titles, it is manageable, it is not really offensive but you will expect a bit more dark and inky blacks in this bitch but it could be the direction in tech because it’s gone with the really stylish approach with this 4k transcript.
Do you want to know what the HDR was like? Sex, drugs and rock and roll baby. No analogy needed. Born in 1979 in this bitch. I’m sure I was conceived while my parents were high. Sex, drugs, rock and roll marijuana. All that good shit. I could have been an accident. HDR in this has very vintage look to it. It may not be for everyone, it has got a yellowish haziness tint which makes it look a little soft in parts but it does give it a little 70’s vibe which I don’t think is really optimize for the 4K format. You will appreciate the increase in detail and HDR does have its own character but nothing is really going to blow you away.
You tell your girl to go sit on the woofer and see what happens! Crystal clear with all the subtleties and bass you would expect format reference quality audio DTS track. Everything is deliberate, has weight to it. From the planes flying past to the third act where you have got gunfire whizzing around, you’re gonna wonder what the hell is going on? You’re girls gonna be lookin around and your’re gonna be lookin’ around thinking “Oh shit!” and let’s not talk about the sound track which is also A1 when that kicks in. You are going to feel like you are transformed into the 70’s. Base kicks in, your legs is going to be jumping to the beat, you may start popping while you are watching the damn movie because you are loving the music, if you understand what I’m saying. The front and rear speakers are firing on all cylinders to give you that reference quality extravaganza. This is reference quality DTS:X great surround, great highs and lows, everything A1. Spacy, tasty, crunchy, good movie, great movie, good optical detail, good vintage feel to it, which may not pay in for 4K so maybe you want to stick to the 1080p and pick this up when it is on a discount. Best way to watch the movie I guess, with the added detail, but nothing is really going to blow your stuff off.
Alright guys, it’s the 4k Rock Star, you already know.
