What’s going on people? It’s your boy Kong Tax, the Congo just got crazy. I’m happy, do you wanna know why? Cuz look what I got, taaaaasty.  Quite possibly, one of the best if not the best superhero movie there is the ‘Dark Knight’. Why so serious, just look at the artwork, just look at it, look how beautiful it looks so tasty. Take a look at the back here. Special features once again I think are on the 1080p. I’m not sure whether they’re on the 4k. Let’s zoom in there, it gives the impression that there’s aspect ratio switching cuz you guys know some of it is shot in IMAX. So that should be interesting. If it isn’t, I’m riotin’ open this up look at this. Loving the artwork on the 4k- loving it. Switch it over and once again look, beautiful artwork on this. They’ve done a really good job. Let’s hope it looks just as good in 4k. There’s nothing really we can say about the Dark Knight other than the fact that it’s a classic baby. So let’s just get on with it.

Shot in 35 millimeter and IMAX baby. Visual effects 4k, 5.6k and 8k. Digital intermediate 4k DTS HD master audio 5.1. Are we gonna start with the opening IMAX shot goddamn! That shit looks very detailed, very sharp, textures and the pavements, buildings, reflection of the building windows, very clean image. I was expecting a lot of grain in this movie but guess what? It just looks very clean. Woo-woohoo we go IMAX scenes baby. Now on some of the indoor shots, there is a little bit of grain present. It is on and off it can look a little soft at times I ain’t gonna lie to you, even the clown masks, the rubbers where at the beginning look there’s just so much more detail on there that you’re just not gonna pick up on at 1080p. This movies predominantly shot a night right. Don’t get me started on the black levels. Oh my God, black levels are A-1 dark and inky throughout. Take chapter 2 for example, opening shot night scene I was watching it on an LED TV, felt like I was watching it on an OLED with the dark blacks, with the dark inkys. Chapter 2 was a great showcase piece for black levels, black levels throughout A-1. You can see pores on Bruce Wayne’s face. You can see individual pores, you can tell he had a clean shave, you wouldn’t be able to tell that on the 1080p. A lot of this disc has three-dimensional pop, great depth from the landscapes. Let me tell you something on some of the scene shots, I have – go it was that deep.

You want to know what the HDR is like? Basically you go like dark colors, she likes grays, she like black, she like dark blue in this bitch.  Unfortunately, for you those colors transition over to lingerie. But guess what? I don’t know how it happened to her. I don’t know, she went shopping, she bought some lingerie in the brightest colors imaginable. You’re seeing it, you need shades just to watch that bitch. I ain’t gonna lie to you that’s what the HDR is like, bright, bold, vibrant just the color detail is immense. Even on Joker’s face, with the face paint, the makeup; you’re noticing things on this you just don’t notice on the 1080p. The lighting and darks city shots really pop off the screen. The explosions, I’ll tell you what I saw so many explosions [???] shit was crazy. There’s a scene where Bruce Wayne’s walking into the party just before brick Joker turns up. He’s walking into the party with two girls, ones wearing an orange dress and one is wearing a turquoise dress, goddamn! Those two just pop off the screen irrespective of whether they’re beautiful or not, the dresses just pop off the screen. Chapter 32 where the Batmobile crashes through the explosion on that is just blinding, looks amazing. It’s a great chance for people, I don’t know what you want me to say.

You tell your girl to go sit on the woofer see what happens. But guess what? She’s gonna be familiar with the speaker when she sit on the woofer because the sound is almost identical to the 1080p version so she familiar with it. Nice bang for your buck, nice depth in some of the explosions and when the action kicks it does it’s job. But it’s nowhere near close to what a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X track would have been like. This is the only place really where I feel the 4k disc is lacking. It could have done with the Dolby Atmos. It could have, it should have, it deserved it, it deserved it. But what can you do?

Alright guys that’s pretty much it, that’s my review on the Dark Knight. Great movie, great upgrade. It is soft in certain parts and on the indoor scenes noise does show its face. But generally, it’s a nice crispy clean image. Pick it up, why not? That’s pretty much it guys, it is the 4k Rockstar, you already know.
