What’s up everybody! Channa D here, and today we’re going to be looking at the 4K ultra high-definition Blu-ray of Assassin’s Creed, and we’re get into it!

Now, Assassins Creed was supposed to look really good. According to reference home theater, this was shot using Arri RAW 3.4K and REDCODE RAW at 6K. With a 4K digital intermediate, this should look pretty awesome, and it doesn’t. Sorry! I thought this was going to be awesome because of the stats that I read about it. If you guys don’t know why I have to review this, I’m using an OPPO UDP-203 4K ultra high-definition Blu-ray player along with my LG OLED E6, 65 inch. The signal was running through my Denon AVR, it’s a Denon AVR X-6300H that has full 4K, 60Hz pass-through with HDCP 2.2 and full HDR support. So, I was really surprised and I was actually kind of bummed out. The textures, the like everything, I’m not sure if the reason it didn’t look as good as let’s say The Martian or Passengers or even Planet Earth 2. Planet Earth 2 looks awesome! I’m going to do a review on that after I’ve watched a few more episodes, I’ve only watched one and it’s phenomenal. Colors pop, these animals look crazy and they got really, really close to some of these things. But what I’m saying is, this should’ve looked a lot better than it did and the biggest indication was that my wife even said “is this thing 4K?” because we’ve watch quite a bit of stuff in 4K now, 4K ultra high definition Blu-ray and 4K streaming from Voodoo, and she kind of can tell the difference now between 1080P and 4K. And from all the other movies we’ve watched, she noticed that something was wrong with this. Wrong in the sense that if this was 4K it should’ve looked better. And I mean I didn’t play the video game, I did like the movie, really cool concept, I wasn’t too thrilled on the picture quality and that’s where this should’ve really shined.

You get to discs: you get the 4K ultra high-definition Blu-ray, you get the regular standard 1080p Blu-ray, you get a couple of leaflets in here, one of them is the Assassin’s Creed dive deeper into the story with the Assassin’s Creed official movie novelization. So, it’s pretty much the book version of the movie. So, they made the movie and then they made the book. That’s different! Now, the production house for this is 20th Century Fox. So, when you do the digital conversion, you only get the HD version, which sucks. There’s only a handful of production houses wherein you buy the 4K ultra high-definition Blu-ray, you get the 4K ultra high-definition version on Voodoo, which is pretty awesome. I’ll address that in another video as I’m doing a review on Voodoo. It was a little disappointing picture quality wise. The movie is cool, the effects were super cool but the picture quality wasn’t up to par from everything else considering they used the cameras they used to make this, considering it was a 4K digital intermediate, I’m really not that impressed. So, I bought this for 25 bucks and I will definitely be putting this up on eBay for 15. So, don’t forget to follow my twitter account, I’ll put it up here again to get the scoop on stuff I got for sale. That’s for United States only. Sorry, no international shipping. So, in conclusion, I would say check this out. If you like the movie, buy it, cool, whatever, but if you’re like looking for a reference quality discs to show off your system, picture quality wise, this is not it. I would say pass on Assassin’s Creed. If you have a different opinion, please let me know down below in the comments. I love to hear what you guys have to say.

That’s it for today.  Once again, my name is Channa D and I’ll see you next time!
