What’s up everybody, Channa D. here! I got a really awesome unboxing for you guys today. I got a big delivery from Klipsch and the home theater update continues! So we’re going to get into that. Right after the jump.

And I’m back. So I ended up picking up the Klipsch RP-280F. Those are the floor standing speakers. They have dual 8″ woofers along with the 1″ tweeter with the 90 x 90 tractrix horn.

So originally I was going to get the RP-260F and then about six months later pick up the 12″ subwoofer since that itself was like $650. A couple of weeks ago Klipsch was running a special deal and if you bought a pair of floor-standing speakers, you got a free subwoofer. So I thought hey cool! The only thing was the RP-260F came with the 10″ subwoofer. I already have a 10” subwoofer and the whole point of this update is to go big. Or at least go bigger than what I have now. So I ended up stepping up to the RP-280F which gave me the free 12″ subwoofer. So I stretched my budget. I got it. And the floor-standing speakers came in and the subwoofer came in and my Atmos speakers came in. So I got a whole bunch of stuff to do and I’m testing it out. So please be patient. Because there’s just a lot of stuff going on right now. I’m trying to get everything done to make some cool videos for you guys.

So for today’s video we’re going to unbox the RP-280F and set those up. And I’m going to do some audio demos for you guys as well. So let’s go! See what’s in the box.

So my first impression. These things are big!! These things are so big. Probably a little too big for my room!  LOL!  That being said, my 65″ OLED TV looks great sandwiched in between these two monstrous speakers. These things are awesome. So In the Denon, I have them set up as large speakers and there’s no crossover. So we’re getting full range. I’ve had them now for like six days. And I have not plugged in the subwoofer yet. I repeat I have not plugged in the subwoofer. I’m already getting an amazing musical experience with these things. The highs and mids are crisp and clear. The new tractrix horn with the rubberized surface around it does take a lot of the harsh and brightness out that I noticed in my previous clips reference speakers. That’s not happening anymore with this new reference premiere line. It’s really pretty awesome! The speakers are ported and the bass response is phenomenal. These 8″ woofers really kick! I get a nice rumble out of the little bit of movies that I watched. And it’s pretty awesome. Totally a great purchase. I’m curious to see what happens when I open the subwoofer. Maybe over the weekend, I’ll open them up. And actually make a video about it. But right now, I’m really just enjoying the speaker’s themselves. The fact is that they look impressive and they sound amazing. You know I’ve wanted Klipsch floor-standing speaker since like 1995. When I first found out about the company and started buying their speakers in the back then. Super excited.

Just to give you guys an idea of how great they sound. I went ahead and made some demos. Now these demos are going to have me walking around with the camera or setting the camera down on the table. But the sound is actually recorded from two microphones. It’s a pair of Rode NT-1000. I’ll put the playlist below so you guys can check those out. So I have those two microphones going into a MOTU FireWire audio interface straight into Logic Pro 10. Put the volume up a little bit so you guys can hear. There was about four to five feet between the speaker and the microphones. So there’s a little bit of air. So I did put the volume up. Just a little bit a couple of dB here and there. Not that much of a difference. But there’s no dynamic change to it. No compression, no limiting, none of that. So you’re basically hearing what’s coming off the speaker. It’s pretty impressive!  They are just the speaker, no crossovers, full range. The RP-280F in all their glory. Just make sure if you are going to check out the audio demos, get some good quality headphones on. Or put it on your hi-fI system. Or something with a little bit of quality and turn it up for sure. You are definitely not going to be able to hear much of the low end, if you’re going to watch this on the laptop speakers or smartphone. Put on your favorite headphones or turn up your speakers. It’s pretty insane, and I really am loving it!

I did notice out after the last couple of days that when my wife is watching TV, it’s loud. So when she’s watching TV, I go into Denon setup and change the speakers from large to small. So that a crossover goes at about a 100 or 110 hz and it usually cuts down and all the big bass. For some reason, a lot of these TV shows have very loud audio tracks. I don’t know what that’s about. So for TV watching, I change the speakers to small in the Denon configuration. For movie watching, I have not yet set up the subwoofer. So once I get the subwoofer set up. Then I’ll play with the crossover frequencies between the RP-280F and the new subwoofer to get that right balance. It’s probably going to take another like five to six days maybe a week, to really like dial it in. So please be patient.

Once I get the subwoofer installed. I’m going to get the Atmos speakers going and will be in full 5.1.2. Excited for all this, you know! That’s it for the review video. Don’t forget to check out the audio demos down below. Go ahead and smash that like button! And don’t forget subscribe to my channel using the button in the middle of your screen.

Thank you guys so much for watching. Once again my name is Channa D, and I’ll see you next time!
