What’s up everybody! Channa here and today we are going to be checking out the Dolby Atmos soundtrack in the movie Jupiter Ascending. So, we are going to be getting into it right after the jump.
And I’m back. Alright. So, as you know I bought the Diamond Luxe Edition of Gravity and check out the Dolby Atmos there and I was poking around online and I found out that Jupiter Ascending has a great five-minute demo. That’s what they said. Jupiter Ascending starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. This movie is not so great. I’m going to tell you that right now however it was only about $14 brand-new from Amazon, I’m sure you can find it on eBay used. This is just the Blu-ray edition, I think there might be, yeah this also has the digital copy in it as well but you just need to see down here or just looking for that Dolby Atmos track. Okay, that’s pretty much it, just the Dolby Atmos track. This is actually really good if you’ve got somebody enter your house, and they are like “what, you’ve got speakers on the ceiling? What’s going on?” Or you’ve got the ceiling bounce Dolby Atmos modules and they are like “what are all these things all types speakers?” You’ll be like “oh, it’s Dolby Atmos.” And they’ll be like “oh, what’s that all about?” You explain to them and they are like “oh well, play something for me.” This is actually pretty good, it’s not going to break the bank like that copy of Gravity which I also found out is like 40 bucks on eBay so make sure you go search for that.
Chapter 3 right around the 25, 26, somewhere like 25:50, 26-minute mark, there’s a good five minutes of action and we’ve got spaceships flying around, we’ve got explosions, we got explosions hitting buildings and as much glass shattering all over the place, this guy Channing Tatum’s on like this little boots that are like flying around, Mila Kunis is screaming a lot. It all starts off with the big spaceship appearing above the Sears Tower and then that spaceship being blown up and everything is kind of falling down around you. It’s pretty loud, I had my Denon up to -10, it’s where I usually set it at. I’ll be getting an SPL meter soon so I can actually see if I’m listening at reference level which is somewhere around 103 to 105 db. So, stay tuned for that as well. It really is kind of transporting you into the action, you’re just right there. It’s pretty intense for like that five-minute section. Throughout the rest of the movie, any time you’ll see like a spaceship kind of enter or exit the scene, it has like it goes into like sort of wormhole thing. Swirls around and switches around, it’s all cool. There’s a part where Channing Tatum gets jettisoned from the ship and he activates a suit that kind of like goes all around him and protects him and that has some really cool Atmos effects as well. But if you’re looking for like a quick demo, it’s in one chapter, 5 minutes, check it out, it’s pretty good. I give it the thumbs up, two thumbs up. It’s also a lot cheaper than the Gravity Deluxe Edition that I got the other day. So, definitely check it out because it should be on your list as a Dolby ATMOS demo for you, your friends, whoever comes over. It’s pretty awesome. Okay.
That’s pretty much it for today, once again my name is Channa D, and I’ll see you next time!
