What’s up everybody? Channa D here.

In today’s video, we’re going to check out the SubDude-HT. It’s an isolation platform for your subwoofer. So we’re getting into it right after the jump.

And I’m back. So the other day, I unboxed an installed Klipsch RP-250C, center channel speaker. And I was getting all kinds of rattling from the shelf that it was on. And so I took the Auralex MoPads put some underneath there. Got rid of the rattling and added a 4 degree incline for the speaker. So now everything actually sounds like it’s coming at us and it’s coming from the screen because it has that 4 degree incline. So we successfully decoupled the center channel speaker from the shelf. So I was thinking about what else can I do to get a better sound? And of course, I was like the subwoofer. That thing probably needs to be on a platform itself. So I got this from a music store called Sweetwater. And this is also made by Auralex. The same company that makes all this foam acoustic treatment that’s all over my studio. Pretty much what it is a wood platform with a huge piece of foam underneath. And it sits under your subwoofer. They make a couple of models the SubDude two and the SubDude-HT. I got the HT because it’s big. 18×22, one and three-quarter inch height. I got it bigger than my subwoofer because I’ve got a new subwoofer coming and it’s gonna be awesome! But strictly hush-hush right now. We’ll take this guy upstairs. Unbox and install it.

And I’m back. So you saw the unboxing. You saw me installing it. Pretty basic. Pretty straightforward. What I did like that the platform the wood was nice and sturdy. Had a nice great sound when I had knocked on it. And the foam pad goes all the way throughout. It covers the whole thing. Which is cool. So I sat there and watched it a few action sequences of x-men last stand. And I have to say all the things I heard about decoupling the subwoofer were actually true. Less rattling in the house. My subwoofer is right next to the stairway that has a banister and I usually would hear that kind of wood rattling on the wall and that kind of stuff. I don’t get that anymore. It’s not like the bass is any louder. I think it just feels more… Like there’s more presence. I guess is the best way to put it. There’s more presence. It’s not getting muddied up down there. By just being on the floor and shaking the floor. So the foam is absorbing all the vibrations from the subwoofer and we’re just getting this nice clean bass tones. Nice rumbles. Nice shakes. Coming from all the LFE and the subwoofer and all that. I played a little bit of music. A little bit of house music and again I got some nice tight bass, no boomy-ness. No shaking or rattling which is kind of nice. I mean sometimes you want the whole place to shake. But it’s great when I’m listening to music and the kids sleep downstairs or whatever and you know I’m upstairs on the big system and I could turn it up without vibrating everything. So the SubDude-HT was $79. I’ll put a link in the description for that. It’s another quick little upgrade to your setup that could pay you back in volumes. You got to check it out for yourself. Obviously everybody’s room is different. Everybody’s equipment is different. But decoupling the subwoofer from the floor might be a good thing to do. It’s weight rating is 200 pounds. So if you’ve got a subwoofer that’s less than 200 pounds. This SubDude-HT will work for you.

That’s all the time I have for you today. Thank you guys so much for watching. If you like this video, go ahead, smash that like button! Don’t forget to hit the subscribe button in the middle of your screen here.
